in todays news from australia it appears that, despite his previous declination to appear when invited, justice mcclellan from the australian royal commission on child sex abuse will officially summon brother geoffrey jackson to the stand after all.. ..... the commission was due to conclude its hearings into the jehovahs witnesses on wednesday but justice mcclellan said he will now call geoffrey jackson, a senior member of the churchs governing body in new york who is currently in australia, to appear next week.. .

Jw kids setting off fire alarms in hotels
by purrpurr ina friend of mine is staying at a hotel next to one of the big convention sites this weekend.
yesterday she tells me one of the hotels had to be evacuated and the fire brigade called when the fire alarm went off.. it turned out to be a bunch of jw kids having a prank.
she had been speaking to the hotel manager who told her that this happens every year and only when the jw's come to stay!.

Are we in Christ's 1000 year reign yet?
by undercover insomething that gets lost in the debate over whether the wts ever claimed in print that armageddon would come in 1975 is that they did teach, in print, that 1975 would be the end of 6,000 years of man's existance on earth.. what significance is that?
according to the wts, in print, jesus would start his new 1,000 year reign of peace at the start of the new "millenium".
satan would be abyssed, war will end, the wicked destroyed.. whether the wts said in so many words, "armageddon is coming in 1975" or not, it is strongly associated with the then coming 1,000 year period of peace and rule by jesus.

How soon would a new Elders' Book leak?

Watchtower sued for Racketeering in California
by under the radar ina little birdie informed me that a lawsuit against the watchtower bible & tract society, its legal department, and several individuals (perhaps lawyers in the legal department) has been filed in the superior court of the state of california, county of los angeles for, wait for it.... racketeering!.
that's right, folks, you heard it here first.
i have no other information, other than the case was stamped "aug 07 2015" and the docket number appears to be bc590675.

Racketeering refers to criminal activity that is performed to benefit an organization such as a crime syndicate. Examples of racketeering activity include extortion, money laundering, loan sharking, obstruction of justice and bribery. (source Google)
I don't know what this case is about but let's review the definition of Racketeering...
- Extortion: Telling Kingdom Hall owners to fork over their property titles or face being removed as an elder or even being disfellowshipped.
- Money Laundering: Forcing congregations to remodel Kingdom Halls even if this isn't necessary or moving money from one Watchtower shell company to another and then funneling it to off shore hedge funds and other long-term speculative investments.
- Loan sharking: Forcing congregations to take out loans from the Watchtower to build new Kingdom Halls or remodel existing ones (whether this is even necessary or not).
- Obstruction of justice: Providing false testimony in court hearings (like they're doing right now in Australia).
- Bribery: How do you think the Watchtower is able to influence city officials in small town America whenever they need a permit to build a Kingdom Hall?
I'd say they're more than guilty of racketeering. In fact, they make the Gambino crime family look like boy scouts.
